Activision posted a new community update confirming Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and a new Warzone game built from the ground up. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will be a direct sequel to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019. According to the blog, both games are being powered by a brand-new engine and Infinity Ward will be leading development on both titles. Activision also told us to expect a massive evolution of Battle Royale with all-new play spaces and a new sandbox mode.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will be served as a direct sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare. There were many rumors over the Internet about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and they ended up being true. There is not much known about this game yet aside from the fact that is a direct sequel but according to some leaks, this game will be heavily focused on Columbian drug cartels.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2
Call of Duty Warzone 2 will be a brand-new Warzone game built from the ground up. YouTuber Jackfrags has some new information on the game. According to the YouTuber, Pat Kelly Call of Duty franchise director said that they were trying some “Significant Innovations” on the game. They are trying to achieve the same kind of innovation that they made in the original Call of Duty Warzone. He said that they missed the opportunity to give players freedom and agency in how they played. He also added that with this game they want to make sure that no two matches play the same and they want to let players define what winning looks like. The game will feature huge changes in the Gunsmith system, matchmaking preferences, and Meta changes. They didn’t go into detail about these topics. Going forward from Warzone 2 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 every Call of Duty title will be powered by a single engine. According to them, this engine is massively better than the current one. Each future Call of Duty integration will have a unique feel to it. This news pretty much confirms that the current Call of Duty Warzone will seize development when Call of Duty Warzone 2 comes out.
The release dates for both Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 aren’t confirmed yet but hopefully, they’ll both be released sometime in fall this year. Activision is still working on making the current state of the Call of Duty Warzone better. Season 2 is scheduled to launch on February 14th and it will feature a lot of quality-of-life changes that will hopefully, improve the game’s current state.
