It may have just been released, but plans and ideas for another Zelda game are already in the works. Ranging from things that had to be cut from Tears of The Kingdom to all new ideas that were built off the experiences of the new entry. This gives us a bit to talk about, so let’s go ahead and see what we already know about the possible ideas for the next Zelda game.
What was the Interview about?
When asked about what it was like creating the new entry into the Zelda series, it appears that game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi was more than willing to spill some details. Apparently, these detail went on more than just about the recently released Tears Of The Kingdom. Instead, he gave the impression to Zachary Small that some ideas were already being circulated around the studio.
Small conducted this interview with Hidemaro Fujibayashi, the TOTK game director, and Eiji Aonuma, the series producer. The interview was originally just about producing the latest entry and seeing secrets they might want to share. While this was the primary conversation topic, it also turned in a different direction.
What hints about the future did Hidemaro Fujibayashi tease?
Fujibayashi was more than willing to discuss the fact that ideas had to be cut from the game. This happened for a variety of reasons that we normally see in video game development, mostly relating to time or budget. But this doesn’t mean that the devs were ready to give up on the ideas and so have started discussing implementing them for the next game.
In addition to the ideas that were cut from the game, there are some that apparently the team started having after the game was developed. He was not willing to get into the full details of what they had planned, but that didn’t mean they stayed silent. Instead, they theorized on things that they had contemplated but weren’t necessarily planned yet.
What are some ideas we could see in the future?
One of these was the possibility that Ganondorf could be receiving far more character developments with new entries in the series. Fujibayashi said this would give them more than just the standard story and may have hinted that this improves the game overall. This makes sense in many ways because Ganadorf is such a factor in most of the plots that seemed to affect Hyrule.
Another factor that was discussed during this interview was the possibility of making Princess Zelda a playable character in the game. Both were quick to address the fact that this has been a long-time fan desire. It might not be impossible in the next entry. How exactly this would work wasn’t illuminated, just a possibility that it could happen in the next game.
As you might imagine, the world of Zelda leaves a lot of room for them to progress in future games. It’ll only be a matter of time to see which choices and ideas make the final cut. Until then, we will all have a great time building into Tears of The Kingdom.
