Overwatch 2 is expected to be one of the biggest fps games of 2022. With years of development and excitement building over its release, let’s go ahead and look at what we know. From new characters to new monetization for the publisher, the game gives us a lot to be excited about.
When will it release?
The good news is that we do not have to wait long for the release of Overwatch 2. The game is set to be released on October 4th of, 2022. The game will be available on all consoles, including the Switch, and it will also be available on pc. The game will be playable to beta testers between then and now on both PC and later consoles if you want to try the game early.
Will I be able to play with people on different systems?
As a matter of you, Overwatch 2 will be adding a cross-play feature with the latest entry to the series. You will be able to play with anyone regardless of the system they are playing on, whether that be different consoles or consoles to pc. As it happens, this will include the ability to play with people who own Overwatch.
New character overhauls.
It seems as though every character is getting overhauled for their debut in Overwatch 2. From bastion losing its tank transformation mode, Sombra has almost completely changed her role to more of a frontline damage dealer. Because of these changes, it will be interesting to see how people choose their new favorite character.
New character in addition to the old roster.
There is also good news in the form of new characters joining the cast. We have only two to go off of, but they are interesting. The first of these new characters is Sojourn. Sojourn is a great choice for players who prefer mid-range combat as their playstyle. She uses a rail gun that is great for this kind of combat, but the best part is that it builds energy with each shot. When fully charged, it can be released as a high-impact shot. Her overclock ability works like this, except every shot, becomes a piercing shot while it is active.
The other new character we know about is Junker Queen, whose abilities are almost the opposite of Sojourns. Junker Queen’s primary weapons are her scattergun, which she can use to blast enemies, and her trusty ax, Carnage. Her ultimate ability is called rampage, which lets her throw herself into the enemy using magnetic gauntlets. Once she is there, she stops them from healing.
New powers in hero mission.
In addition to these new characters and character changes, we also have a new form of Player vs. Environment available. It will allow players o play as their chosen multiplay character and gain some experience while fighting numerous adversaries with different allies, all the while on changing maps.
A new way to play and pay.
One of the last huge pieces of news I have to tell you is how much Overwatch 2 will cost. Zero. Overwatch 2 will be released in a free-to-play model, and it has been announced that there will be no loot boxes. Money will be made from season passes and DLC for the PVE modes in the game that will be released later.
