What is the Valkyrie series?
The Valkyrie series is a JRPG series created and published by Square Enix. The series consisted of three released entries and a mobile game. The games were released to get popularity at first, but the second entry was a prequel set on the PS2. The third was also a prequel and was released on a DS system. The only other release was the mobile game, which convinced many fans that the series was more or less done. Then the announcement of the sequel sent everyone into a frenzy.
The games have always maintained a similar story style throughout each installment. The Valkyrie is a warrior commanded by the all-father to attempt to stop the coming of Ragnarök. When will it release?
Valkyrie Elysium is currently set to be released in two separate installments. The first is the console release scheduled for September 29, 2022, and the PC release is November 8, 2022. The game is currently set to be released for the ps5 and PC, with no other platforms being mentioned.
What is Valkyrie Elysium about?
Valkyrie Elysium is the first sequel in the series and is set again against Ragnarök’s backdrop. The player character is a brand-new Valkyrie made by the all-father in his last days. He then entrusts the Valkyrie with the job of stopping Ragnarök and saving the world. We have some other visualized in-game moments, such as the Valkyrie recruiting a fallen warrior and a mysterious knight who seems to know the Valkyrie. Other than these bits, most of our knowledge is about the gameplay other than the story.
What will combat be like in Valkyrie Elysium?
Being a JRPG means that combat was almost always a given, but Valkyrie Elysium will be changing up the formula for the series. For one thing, it is an action game, which means you will fight and make real-time decisions. This choice will increase the pace of the game, but some of the tactical nature will be lost.
In actual combat, you will be cable of three different kinds of attacks. The first is a melee attack that you will make with your sword or other weapons. This fighting style can be used to create combos and increase the damage. The second type is an attack spell that focuses on creating things like fireballs and lightning strikes. The last form is to be able to summon allies in the form of the einherjar, ghostly warriors that will fight alongside you in combat.
